ZUBIN MODY HR HEAD, INDUSIND BANK Hiring: Then & NOW Zubin Mody (HR Head, IndusInd Bank) says recruitment strategy has evolved with the business needs Issue Date - 01/03/2013 |
Q. What is your personal advice to your team when it comes to recruiting a candidate? A. I always explain to my team the importance of hiring quality resources. Some key operational elements stressed upon are: 1 Wherever possible, make sure you have a face-to-face interaction with the candidate or an interview through video conferencing. 2 Understand the job role very thoroughly for which a candidate is to be recruited and have clarity on the functional and behavioural skill requirements. As interviews are conducted along with the line managers, make it a point to check the line manager’s feedback on the functional competencies of the candidate and appropriateness of the job knowledge. 1 Understand a candidate’s value system and see if it complements or contradicts the bank’s values. 2 Check on a candidate’s personal ambitions and see if a match is possible, otherwise there is likely to be heartburn after joining. 3 Never give false information on job role, compensation and grade. |
